morning, afternoon, night, repeat.

Spring cleaning came early this year...and it started with cleaning out a few unfinished blog posts that never got around to being published. Like this little guy:
Titled: morning, afternoon, night, repeat.
Dated: October 2nd, 2011
I find that most days just roll into one another. Suddenly it's morning, somehow we arrive at work, then lunchtime rolls around, magically the work day ends and the evening begins, and the clock ticks on until it's time to go to bed. And then...suddenly it's morning again.

I would certainly agree that time flies, and every once in awhile I stop to look around at my life and ask, when did that happen? I've come to a conclusion, and I think it's a good one: little things change, every day.

Super awesome discovery, I know. But it's actually kinda crazy when you think about it...!

With every frame I shoot, every lighting setting that I test, fail, and correct, something is registering, and it is causing growth and change, in ways I am truly thankful for.

Most of these changes won't be recognized on a weekly or even monthly basis, but here are some of the things I have come to see have changed (all of which, I'd say, are for the better.)

Sepia. I used to love it. I used to think it was cool and stylistic and really added a punch of interestingness (shh..) to a picture. Now, I pay attention to ever colour that shows through my lens and I cringe at the thought of losing it in the editing process. There are rare occasions when I'll pull out a B&W photo and it works, but the operative word here is rare.

Timing. I used to think it was the equipment that made the photographer, and now I know it's all about timing, coupled with having the right personality to make people feel like we've been friends for years.

Twitter. It used to scare me. And I didn't really do anything about it...I just kept letting the days roll into each other and now, it doesn't scare me anymore.

Confidence. No idea where this little gem came from, but put me in front of an engaged couple and ask me why I think I'm the best person for the job? It's something that would have scared me, even up to a few months ago. But now? I have absolutely NO problem answering that question.

But of course there are things that haven't changed...(and hopefully never will!)

I still LOVE taking pictures.
I am still madly in love with Ryan Kelly.
I still feel like I'm betraying Starbucks whenever I go to Second Cup.
I still watch a lot of TV; really, really terrible TV.
I still keep and write a lot of unfinished blog posts, you know...for a rainy day.
I still have urges to spend money frivolously.
I still prefer cookie dough to cookies.
The funniest part about this...is the part at the end about unfinished blog posts. Yup...some things never change.
