choose me, marry me, let me make you happy

I know every line.

Every tone, every glance, every song. In my opinion, My Best Friend's Wedding is as good as they come. I remember the night my parents rented it, and I sat on the floor in the family room and couldn't peel my eyes away. My mom insisted it was too mature, my dad said it would be fine.

Since that day, I have seen this movie three or four dozen times...at least. Like I said: every line, every tone, every glance, every song. It was always my go-to on sick days (along with A Walk to Remember, obviously).

The thing is, as I sit here on a Sunday night, cuddled up in a blanket on the couch, I realize that I'm watching it with new eyes, as if I were seeing it for the first time. A moment that I've watched over and over suddenly makes me cry because I understand it...

I guess in that way, no matter how many times you've seen an old movie, it'll always be different. And that might just be the very best thing I've ever come to realize.

PS...Also, it's kinda funny to look back on the worst of the 90s...
the belly shirts, the awful pant-suits, the cell phones
and their gigantic antennas...

It saddens me that in 15 years or so, we'll be making fun of
iPads and Ugg boots (oh wait, we already make fun of Ugg boots).
