dale + kevin | luxury andaz hotel wedding in ottawa

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the second EVER wedding at the new Andaz Hotel in Ottawa! Dale and Kevin treated their guests to an evening that will always be remembered. Everything was perfect, right down to the hand-stamped cookies and the frosted glasses of prosecco that were passed around all evening.

Dale and I actually worked together at the law firm wayyyy back when. Seeing her smile from ear to ear on her wedding day was so special. She was calm, cool, and collected -- and Kevin was her perfect fit. The moments after their first look were my favourite of the whole day, as we walked through Major's Hill Park in awe of the amazing weather. The forecast had promised an 80% chance of rain, but here we were overlooking the city with sunshine on our shoulders and smiles on our faces.

I cannot wait to dive in and share more from Dale & Kevin's gorgeous day!

So obviously the ultra-modern Andaz hotel was a dream for bridal prep photos, what with the sleek furniture, floor to ceiling windows, and combo of white and grey walls. I was in heaven!

This tiny Ottawa-inspired coaster made for some pretty cute detail photos.

Shoutout to Ottawa Flowers who always seem to pull together gorgeous florals for my brides.

Her "something blue" -- and the most gorgeous hair/makeup ever! Showpony and One Fine Beauty never fail me. And when you add the custom Sarah Walsh hairpiece, it's just perfection.

Ready to get this show on the road! Out the hotel window Dale and her girls could see the limo drop off the guys on George Street. I think that was the moment that it felt really, truly real for her!

Their first look took place right in the market, in a private spot where it would be just the two of them. They walked towards each other with confidence and joy, so excited to finally tackle this day as a pair!

Pro-tip for shooting on a busy street: forget trying to get the perfect shot, and just embrace the traffic ;)

(Also, if anyone knows the guy on the bike, let me know! I think he would like this photo...)

These girls were having the best time :)

On the second floor of the hotel the girls from Kennedy Event Planning were busy preparing for the ceremony to begin.

Clear chevalier chairs and a stunning floral backdrop made for the perfect place to say their vows. Also, I'd really like if this trend of gold details could continue forever.

Something about me being a mom means that my heart explodes when I see adorable flower-children! I especially love a good flower crown and glitzy dress combo.

Mr. & Mrs. Jamieson!

Dale & Kevin's families are so lovely and they absolutely killed it during their family photos. I just had to include a few of my favourites :)

Classic photo of any little one under 2.

I told them I'd be offended if this next shot wasn't their Christmas card. Christie & Mike -- I promise I'm kidding. Kinda...

Up on the 16th floor, cocktail hour on the Copper Spirits & Sights Lounge was well underway. Fancy appetizers and trays of champagne were passed around while Dale & Kevin's guests enjoyed an amazing view of the city. Having already finished their wedding party and bride & groom photos meant that they could join the party :)

Spotted! One of my first few wedding clients, Mallory & Tyler! If you remember these two, you've been following me for FOREVER and I love you.

My apologies if this post is making you hungry...

During the cocktail hour, the Kennedy girls transformed the ceremony space into a beautiful reception room. Dale & Kevin arranged for food stations instead of a plated dinner, to maintain the laid back vibe.

I was so excited to see a gorgeous dessert table by Osso Sweet! One of everything, please.

Before entering the reception room, the music was cued for a first dance on the rooftop. I am so so thankful for beautiful weather. Someone was watching over us and holding the rain drops until late into the evening.

To the beautiful newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Jamieson, congratulations! It was my great pleasure to join you and help document your amazing wedding day. Thank you for everything! <3
