suzanne + kyle | mill street brewpub wedding in ottawa

I sat in Starbucks with my iced mocha frap and waited for a girl named Suzanne. Little did I know I was about to meet not only Suzanne but two of her sweet bridesmaids! That was a consult first for me and I have to say I enjoyed our time immensely! Together, the three girls painted a picture for me of what the wedding of Suzanne and Kyle would look like. They used words like colourful, organic, fresh, and ultimately...FUN.

Suzanne and Kyle are such genuine people, and they created the most amazing wedding day as a celebration of their love. It was clear to me that at the heart of the day was a sense of gratitude for their friends and family.

I'll kick off this post with one of my favourite elements of the day: their custom wedding branding! These sweet little Suzanne and Kyle faces appeared on all of the paper goods, and even on the candy buffet bags that the guests would take home with them. It's little details like this that make a photographer swoon :)

After a romantic first look down in the grotto, Suzanne and Kyle did a few bride and groom portraits around Mill Street. I am so, so, so thankful that they opted for a first look because had they not, we would have faced pouring rain for these photos.

Kyle spent a good chunk of time wiping off the bright red lipstick and I laughed every time. He couldn't keep his hands off of her!

The ceremony set up was absolutely beautiful. With the large barrels, fresh plants and flowers, and the adorable teapot details, it looked like a romantic garden centre.

It was one of the most emotional ceremonies I've ever witnessed. There were tears from the bride, groom, and about half of the wedding party. At one point Suzanne even said, "We're happy, I promise!" between sniffles.

After the ceremony we had time for a few photos under the stormy clouds.

Gemma at The Sweetest Digs did a phenomenal job of transforming this space from ceremony to reception. Having a day-of coordinator is such a great investment.

I also have to mention how diligent the staff was at Mill Street. While I photographed this space I observed the staff straightening every chair, inspecting every wine and water glass, and triple checking the place cards. That attention to detail really impressed me and I would recommend this space to ANYONE for an upcoming wedding.

Suzanne and Kyle -- thank you for a tremendous day together. Your wedding was a pleasure to photograph and it has been an honour to document this chapter of your love story. I hope you're having an AMAZING time in Australia for your honeymoon! All my love.
