chelsea + jeremy | private elopement destination wedding in antigua

Today's blog post is brought to you by a special burst of post-vacation energy. I had only just unpacked my bags by the time I sat down at my computer and started hammering away at Chelsea & Jeremy's destination wedding. The beautiful sunshine and swaying palm trees had me furiously working all day long, so excited at the idea of being able to share my favourite photos with you here.

Chelsea & Jeremy had plans for a medium-sized elegant barn wedding this coming September. I was most excited, especially since it would be my second time photographing a wedding for another wedding photographer, which is such an honour! Turns out, a tiny little surprise named Bentley would be enough to shake up every planning decision Chelsea & Jeremy had made to date. Was the big wedding really what they wanted? Or were the tropics calling out to them...

Ultimately, they decided to sneak off to Antigua with only their closest immediate family members, to elope by the ocean with baby Bentley in tow. It was everything the pair had hoped it would be: intimate, romantic, and as easy as the Caribbean breeze. I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of joining the group of 9 for this incredible trip. I'll never forget it!

Making motherhood look oh so good.

Oh and did I mention Chelsea was wearing a custom headpiece by Sarah Walsh Bridal? Couldn't go 2,000 miles without a little piece of SWB...

The only pants-less guest, I assure you.

See that little pink heart? That's where we stayed! The bay was absolutely gorgeous and we had access to beaches on both sides. Karolina from Diamonds Wedding Planners was so helpful in setting us up with a killer resort.

In lieu of shoes (hello... softest white sand on the planet!) Chelsea wore this lovely pair of barefoot sandals by Modern Crochet Club

Pretty sure she's an actual angel.

A perfectly quaint ceremony right by the brightest bit of the ocean...

...made complete with personalized vows to seal the deal.

The whole gang in one shot, with a sleeping Bentley as the star.

But any photographer's child will surely wake up for his closeup.

Even with giant crabs scampering along on these jagged rocks, Chelsea & Jeremy forged ahead. Totally my kind of couple.

Jeremy is happy because he's married to such a babe, but also because we let him take off his jacket on this 30 degree afternoon...

Probably my very favourite from the day:

Far into the distance of this next photo you'll see our resort at the opposite side of the bay. A private dinner was set out on the beach at sunset, close enough to hear the music travel across the still water, but far enough for it to feel like we were the only ones out there.

A suitcase filled with decor from Amy + Jen made this table come to life.

A few final moments of daylight:

Chelsea & Jeremy -- I would travel with you anywhere, but Antigua was such a perfect destination. Thank you for including me in your plans, even when we didn't quite know where we'd be headed! From an elegant barn, to a Canadian mountain top, to a Caribbean island, you know I'd have been there for it all. Congratulations on your lovely little family, and the strong marriage that I know you will build together.

Love you guys! The rum punch is on me next time I see ya.
