michelle + mike | major's hill park engagement session

When you create a brand and market towards it, one of the necessary steps is to envision your ideal client. What does she like? Where does she shop? What does she watch on TV? The "voice" of your business should speak directly to her, right down to the references you think she might appreciate.

From the moment I read Michelle's first email, where she quoted her favourite quote from The Hills, I felt like I'd known her for years. I have, after all, been "speaking" to her through my blog and website since waaaay back. And here she was in the flesh (well, over email of course). She had found me. And like kismet it was meant to be that I would photograph her wedding to Mike, the man of her dreams.

There are not enough words to describe my excitement for their wedding day in 2018. For now though, I'll share these ones:

Michelle & Mike -- you guys are the cats pyjamas. You're the reason I am able to do what I love, and love every second of that work. I am truly, truly honoured to be your photographer next year. And if I ever find myself in AB, I'll be looking you up!

The photo that's make all the girls on Instagram say "OMG those shoes!"

#CoupleGoals

I've been obsessing over this photo all week. So much so, that I texted it to Michelle because it felt wrong to keep it a secret.

I am so so glad we were able to hammer out an initial phone date, an in person meeting and glass of wine with your Man of Honour, and this romantic sunset engagement session all in the course of one week. You guys are amazing and it was much fun to make it all happen. Sending all my love, friends! <3

holly + tony | downtown ottawa and rideau canal engagement session

Holly & Tony came to me by way of my dear friend Shannon from Kennedy Event Planning. "I have an amazing couple for you!" she said, and included an email address where I could get in touch with Holly.

Since then we've been keeping in touch by email and checking in on each other's lives over social media. I have seriously been counting down the days until we could finally meet for real for our downtown engagement session. The way the sun poured through the canal that night, skipping across the water and landing in Holly's platinum blonde curls -- every single shot was gold.

And since it was impossible to narrow down, I'm sharing a ton of photos of this sweet couple today! Holly & Tony, September 9 is going to be a dream come true!

Even the light-testing, in-between shots of these two are on point.

When I took this photo I showed it to Tony and said, "is she for real?" He just shook his head and said, "I know. That's Holly for ya."

Fave.

This is true golden hour here! You can't beat that dreamy sunset colouring.

From generation to generation... This ring was passed down to Tony from his grandmother, and fits like Cinderella's slipper on Holly's perfectly manicured finger.

I love that you can see the Shaw Centre in this shot, which is the spot where they'll be saying "I do!" The fact that it's not even two months away blows my mind.

So friends, you're not wrong in thinking that I've been spending basically all of my time on the canal these days. Starting with Jasmine & Jason, and of course Kelly & Peter, and now the lovely Holly & Tony

But I have some great news -- there's another one in the series! Get ready to meet Michelle & Mike, and see if I can truly make the same location look entirely different FOUR TIMES in the last 2 weeks ;)
