the smith-smyths | ottawa family fall photos at the arboretum

If you don't recognize this little family, you need to take a peek through a few more blog posts my beautiful friend! Because you're looking at one of the LK Royal Families, the Smith-Smyths!

I shot their wedding in 2013, Brittany and I became best friends, she popped out this handsome little angel named Parker, and they are a HUGE part of our lives. It was the best thing ever to be able to take some family photos for them this week! While I typically reserve this blog for wedding and engagements, I couldn't help but share their smiling faces with you.

Brittany, Brent, and baby Parker -- love love love. I'm thankful not a week goes by where I don't see one or more of you. We'll be growing old and grey and still taking photos of each other and drinking Nova7 and that's exactly how I'd like it. xo

time to create your wedding album? read this!

Now that the wedding season is coming to an end, it seems like the perfect time to switch gears and share a few photos of some recent wedding albums! And a wedding album post would be incomplete if it didn't also feature some helpful tips for you to create the perfect album to contain all your favourite memories.

So please enjoy, and hopefully these guidelines help you in creating your luxury, heirloom wedding album!

HOW MANY PHOTOS SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Albums start at 30 photos and there are options to upgrade to 50 or 100. My suggestion would be to do an initial look through your gallery, flagging photos that you think you'd love to have in your book. If that number is 45, you can probably shrink it down to 30 by eliminating a few photos that are similar. If your initial cull is closer to 125, chances are you're looking at either 50 or 100 photos!

An album with 30 photos is generally simple and hits only the main elements of the day, whereas an album with 50 or 100 has more detail shots and a few more memories of candid moments and guests.

One quick note that I find super helpful when guiding my clients to choose their photos, it's more about telling a story than selecting your favourites.

katt + matt | ottawa conference and events centre wedding photographer

Keeping the October weddings rolling this morning!

I'm excited to bring you a collection of favourites from Katt & Matt's wedding. This one was a party from the start -- you'll see it in their faces, you'll notice it as they place the wedding bands on each other's hands, as they exit the church, as they enter the dance floor, and I'm sure the party ramped up and continued far long after I had hugged everyone goodbye...

Dig in and enjoy Katt & Matt's beautiful wedding day at Ottawa Conference and Events Centre, with a beautiful ceremony at Senhor Santo Cristo Church.

Impossible to take a bad photo of Katt, she's just angelic at all times.

A little someone waiting for a big limo to pull up...

My beautiful new friends, Kathleen and Matt -- I'm so glad you've found each other! I have no doubt you'll be celebrating anniversaries until you're old and grey and I love that you'll be able to look back and know that your wedding day was an absolute blast. I'm grateful to have met your families and friends and I'm already excited for the future shoots we're going to get to do together...!! <3 All my love!
