that awkward moment...

...when Chelsea Handler and I are wearing the same sweater.

date night

I love that he empties the dishwasher;
love that he sits on my back after a particularily tough day;
love that he wakes me up 30 minutes early and then lets me snooze;
love that he constantly reminds me that I am allergic to puggles.

But most of all, I love that whenever I tell him it's date night, he listens. On the way home from picking Beans up at work last night, I did that very thing; I told him it was date night.

I also told him I was mad craving watermelon. And with it being date night and all, Beans has no choice but to indulge me and my bizarre craving. So after our delicious snack, we headed to the theatre to see Wrath of the Titans (you can skip this one, Immortals was way better) and held hands the entire time.

Love comes in many forms, but to us...it looks a little bit like 3D glasses, holding hands, and a bizarre craving for watermelon.

julia + jason | apple hill orchard couple shoot

It's an amazing thing when you're able to leave a photoshoot with friends instead of clients, and Julia and Jason are such wonderful people that it was bound to happen.

They indulged me in everything I wanted, from this gorgeous forest landscape on the side of the road, to the muddy fields of Apple Hill Fruit Farm. Here are some of my favourites from our adventures together ♥...

Fave...

I'm in love with this orchard, especially this time of year when the trees are so Tim Burtonly eery. Too bad it's being torn down this year to make way for a new subdivision :(

I love that Julia and Jason wanted to commemorate their first home with a photoshoot, I can totally relate!

rebecca + joseph | confederation park couple shoot

Rebecca and I are like two peas in a pod when it comes to picture taking. I can't express how excited I was to finally meet her after all of our chit chat about what to wear, where to go, all of the good stuff.

You see, we're the same age ("89 repreSENT) and we both love the same style for couple photos. I had such a great time hanging out with her and her boyfriend Joseph in Confederation park, and I can't wait to show you the product of this super fun shoot...!

Umm, yeah hi...Rebecca, you're GORGEOUS.

Under the Laurier Bridge is one of my fave spots to shoot couples, it's so intimate and the light is fab. You can check out other Laurier Bridge shoots here and here and here :)

Love these two... ♥

leave your love!

Ahh!

I love new stuff!

And there's something new on the blog today. That's right...gorgeous, fancy, shmancy, super amazing FACEBOOK COMMENTS!!!

This is something I've been trying to implement onto the blog for quite some time, and to my great unhappiness, it proved to be insanely difficult. This morning I posted a question to a network of photographers from all around the world, who I love and admire, and asked them if they had any tips for me.

I love Showit (noun. not just a website platform, it's a lifestyle) for providing me access to this network because this morning, one Showiteer in particular spent over 2 hours with me working on getting this working exactly how I wanted.

That's love.

So my friends, comment away...♥ I'd love nothing more than to hear from you! And even if you have nothing to say, say thank you to Lisa Frankel from NJ, USA.

Fine print: I'm not sure if you can see them in Internet Explorer...
but if you can, great! Let me know :)

fear not the rainy days

One of the questions I get asked quite frequently, is what to do in case of rain on shoot day, and my answer is almost always the same...

I tell the client that they should hope for cloudy skies, because it really does me give me a ton of room for creativity, without trying to steer clear of squinty eyes and such! Sometimes shooting conditions are most beautiful in that 10-15 minutes before the skies break and it pours, so if you're up for the potential adventure, I firmly believe you will be rewarded :)

Now, I feel the need to admit that I have never put too much stock into the weather forecast (especially after many clients have checked the weather on Friday for a Sunday shoot, and rescheduled after seeing a 90% chance of showers, only to find ourselves with a delightfully cloudy, rainless afternoon during the time they would have been shooting).

That being said, someone still pays for the Weather Network to be on TV, so there must be some truth to it. So if there's 90% chance of showers on the day of your shoot and you don't feel inclined to reschedule, maybe it's best to make sure you've got a cute umbrella in your trunk ;)

come monday

I remember that Friday night feeling I used to get when I was working a 9-5 job...that feeling of ahhhhhhhh :) it's the weekend.

Now that weekends are my busiest time, I get that similar feeling come Sunday night. This past weekend was pretty crazy, and after six wonderful shoots I know for 100% sure that by tomorrow morning I'll be ready for a chance to just take it eeeeeasy.

Here's a look at how I spent my weekend, starting with a pretty amazing Friday night, playing charades with some of my favourite people ♥

We pretty much laughed until we cried.

And here's a look at what's in store for the blog this week:

I hope your weekend was as beautiful as mine ♥
